Overview

Westerlo is situated in a region of woods and meadows and is known as the Green Pearl of the Campine.

The youth hostel is the former house of a forester. The building has got a modern and comfortable extension but still has an authentic charm.
Ideally situated at the edge of the wood, the youth hostel is the right place to organize green classes.
It is also the best starting point to explore the region, following the numerous long distance Walking and Cycling routes.

(1) As a non-member you can also acquire your membership through the special introductory offer. You will be allowed a stay at a hostel without a membership card. Instead you’ll receive a guest membership card and pay a supplement per overnight stay. In exchange you’ll get a “Welcome Stamp” on your guest card. Once you have 6 stamps on your card you’ll have acquired a valid international membership and you’ll enjoy the normal tariffs. 
Mind you, you’ll be a lot cheaper off if you become a HI-member, in which case you’ll get a discount voucher as well. Keep in mind that in some countries the supplement for a “Welcome Stamp” comes more expensive than in Flanders.

  • Children discounts for families.

    • Children under 3 enjoy a free stay.

    • Children under 12 get a discount of ±20% for bed and breakfast and meals when accompanied by at least one adult.

  • Group tariffs are the same as the individual adult tariff.

    • groups must be in possession of a group membership card. 

    • every 16th person of a group stays free.

Travel Guide

Car:

- Coming from Antwerp on the E313, exit at number 22 Herentals - Olen or number 23 Geel – Westerlo. Follow the signs to Westerlo.
- Coming from Brussels on the E40, change to A2 in Leuven and exit at number 22 Aarschot. In Aarschot, head for Herselt and Westerlo (main direction Geel).
- The youth hostel lies NW of the village center.
