Overview

Welkom

The beautiful gothic town hall and the medieval Béguinage are the witnesses of the rich past of Leuven, nowadays the capital city of the province of Vlaams Brabant.

Its famous university – one of the oldest in the World – gives a young and student atmosphere to the city.

The “Oude Markt” (old market square), better known as the “longest beer counter of Western Europe”, is an understanding in this world-known city of beer brewers.

The Meerdal forest and Heverlee wood, in the vicinity of the town, are the perfect places to relax in nature.

“Blauwput” is the most modern youth hostel in Flanders.

Travel Guide

Car:

Leuven is situated next to the motorways E40 and E314. No matter from which direction you approach Leuven, take the first exit "Leuven" and drive to the Leuven ring-road. When on the ring-road, follow direction Tienen. At the big crossroad called "Tiensepoort" drive away from Leuven, direction of Tienen. After about 300 metres you will reach traffic lights. Turn left direction "Diest", in to the Martelarenlaan. You are now driving along the railroad tracks. After about 1,5 kilometres (one mile) you will pass the train station on your left. The hostel is now on your right.
Parking: To reach the nearest (paying) secure parking, return to the ring-road of Leuven, and in the tunnel under the train station, head for “Parking Ring”. The youth hostel is located at 200 metres from the parking; take the pedestrian railway tunnel exit Kessel-Lo and cross the street.

WARNING: There are about 40 speed traps on the Leuven ring-road! Mind your speed!
